Hye Young and Sung Ho’s wedding was so much fun to photograph. The April weather was all over the place and it rained, snowed and was completely sunny throughout the day. Luckily we had made an indoor plan and started at the Chicago Botanic Garden for some indoor portraits.
One of the things I immediately liked about the two of them was their ability to make each other laugh and be completely at ease. A mutual friend introduced them a little over a year earlier and things moved quickly from there. Hye Young told Sung Ho that night the ‘ah ha’ moment for her was on their third date, when she was laughing hysterically at his corny jokes, and accidentally knocked down a wine glass and broke it into pieces. It was his calm response and assurance that made her think, ‘Oh he’s the one’.
After taking portraits, we headed to Lakeview Church in Northbrook for the ceremony. I was happy with all of the beautiful light streaming through the windows. It was an incredibly emotional ceremony and it was nice to have a lot of time to walk around and capture moments throughout the space.
After the ceremony we headed to the Seville in Streamwood. We had a little time before the guests arrived and took that opportunity to make some night portraits at the venue.
The toasts were fabulous and Hye Young’s maid-of-honor turned a Backstreet Boys song into a wedding toast!
We were luckily enough to stay for the first dances and they were so lovely. I’ve been trying to experiment a little more with lighting and I really love how these images came out!
Congrats you two! Thanks for having me be a part of your day and to the other great vendors that made this day possible!
