I really enjoyed Emily and Alex’s wedding at The Grove this summer! I hadn’t worked there in several years and was excited to spend the day outside. I had just shot their engagement session a few weeks before and had a great time getting to know them both.
I started with Emily at the Redfield Estate in the historic home on the property. I love all of the great window light and the ornate details in the room.
After she was ready, we headed outside for the first look. We happened to run into her father on the way out which made for a cute moment.
There are so many spots on the property to explore and despite the heat, we were able to stay relatively cool by choosing locations in the shade. I loved all of the old trees and trails throughout the estate.
The ceremony took place on the grass outside of the historic house. Emily is a teacher and her students came to join in the ceremony festivities. Kelly and Phil, previous clients of mine, also officiated the wedding and it was so great to see them again!
Emily made sure there were plenty of fun activities for her students and they seemed to have a great time toppling over the giant Jenga set.
The reception space is an outdoor pavilion that I really loved! They did a fantastic job finding details that mimicked the natural surroundings.
Emily and Alex decided against formal first dances and instead had a lively dance party that lasted most of the night, with amazing work by Dustin of Toast & Jam DJs.
I noticed that the moon was peeking between a row of trees outside the reception space and thought it would make a great location for a fun night shot.
Congrats to you both and thanks the the incredible vendors that made this wedding at The Grove such a success!
