Conor and Ian’s Chez Chicago wedding was one of my favorites from 2015. After getting to know them both and spending some time with them for their home engagement session, I knew it would be hard to hold back the laughter during their day.
The two really love candid, documentary style photography so I wanted to make sure I got a ton of fun, different shots of their event. I started with them and their wedding party at The Ivy Hotel where everyone was getting ready together. The wedding party was very energetic and made us feel so welcome and comfortable when we arrived.
After getting ready, we walked over to Olive Park for some portraits with them and their wedding party and family.
After our portrait session we walked back to Chez for the ceremony. It was one of the most emotional ceremonies I have ever photographed and their guests and wedding party all took part, saying different quotes and jokes about the couple. Their vows were particularly poignant, sharing things the couple love to do together, struggles they have had and music they adore.
The room was decorated beautifully and I loved the small, modern details that filled the space.
The toasts were very emotional and had the whole room laughing and in tears! I love the image of them toasting together and I recently found out I won a Wedding Photojournalism Association (WPJA) award for the image!
After dinner, the two shared a quick dance and invited their guests to join in. Then it was time for the dance party!
Special thanks to the fantastic wedding vendors that made this Chez Chicago wedding so great! Thanks for having me be a part of your special day!
