I hadn’t worked at the space before so I was looking forward to Ashley and Patrick’s Ovation Chicago wedding. It’s a beautiful place with dark wood, brick and large windows. I love the Fulton Market area and often go there for engagement sessions.
Ashley and Patrick met in high school choir ten years before and their connection and love for one another was clear from the minute I started chatting with them. They are goofy and seem to have a whole lot of fun together. They wanted mostly candid photos throughout the day which started with getting ready upstairs at Ovation.
After everyone was ready, we headed around the Fulton Market area for some photos before we made our way to the Kinzie Street Bridge area to some fun spots that I had scouted out the week before the wedding.
While we were taking portraits, a river boat sped past and you could hear people cheering for the couple from the water below!
We headed back to Ovation for the ceremony and I was able to get a few more getting ready and relaxing photos of the wedding party before guests started to arrive.
Ashley had to walk around the space for the ceremony and ended up taking off her shoes which made for a fun shot of her and one of her bridesmaids.
The ceremony took place near sunset which let some beautiful light through the windows at Ovation.
The space was full of fun details that reflected their personalities and I really liked their flower choices. They even had Pez dispensers they used as favors for their guests!
Ovation has a beautiful grand piano which Patrick played during the reception. Everyone gathered around as he and an accompanying band played a few songs.
Their first dance was so sweet and since the dance floor is so large, my lighting assistant and I were able to do several different lighting setups for the dances.
After that it was time for the dance party! Style Matters always does such a great job keeping the dancing going all night!
Congrats to Ashley and Patrick and thanks to the team that made this Ovation Chicago wedding possible!
